Congrats to J.L. for winning
The Grublog Poker Classic II!
J.L. is a friend of mine, longtime blog reader, and first person to sign up under my Party account (at the one-time referral fee which was used to treat him to dinner, and if I had only known how much he'd be playing...) and though he's come close in other tournaments, this marks his first win. He was ecstatic to the point of donating his gaming system to me! I will choose the PlayStation 2, set it up in Vegas, and he'll be welcome to come over and play Grand Theft Auto anytime. Oboy, I can hardly wait to play gangsta and carjack taxicabs. No more tilting in blackjack when I can flip on GTA and run red lights.
I've contacted everyone regarding the extra prizes; if you haven't heard from me, shoot me an email.
Thanks all for playing. Also thanks to davidross for joining us. David and I were simultaneously playing the Empire 50K. I was unceremoniously kicked out at 77th (top 40 cash) when I pushed with AQ in LP and the BB lucked out with KK and called. I was well over average in chips (he was too, unfortunately). I should have just raised 3x and seen the flop.
This happened in the grublog too, when J.L. raised with AQ and I raised him all-in from the BB with KK. My hand held up, he was down to T3000 but still managed to pull it out. He also was late for the tourney, not arriving until a good 40 minutes had elapsed when he was down to something like T600 before rebuying. Something to be said for this patience.
I'll put up the
Leader Board soon. Gives a chance to add many new poker blogs I hadn't known about before.

No winner for last week's
Hand of the Week #24, so $5 added this week. I allowed second guesses, and ToddCommish got it on the third try (I had 99), but I have to stick to the rules and disqualify that one (sorry, T.C.!).
When that turn came around and I saw BB push (with 44 for a flopped boat) and the other guy call (with JJ), it was the easiest call in the world. Too bad I wasn't able to raise.
For a change, here's a no-limit hand in the 50NL... and this time me with 44...
Grubby's Hand of the Week #25
for Monday, November 22, 2004
Prize: $40
The first person to correctly guess my opponent's hand before next Monday wins. Suits may or may not matter. One guess per person, please. Winner will be declared here that Monday. If there's no winner, $5 will be added to the prize pool.
This week's HoW is brought to you by
Party, because I still only have three signups. If you sign up and play through
my link, I'll bribe you with $25. This is on top of the 20 percent bonus on your first deposit (up to $100). In addition, if your guess is the first correct one, the prize is
tripled for you.
Leave your guess in the comments section below. You can be Anonymous without registering through Blogger, but do include your name so I know whose guess is whose.
If you don't include contact info and you're the winner,
email me after the quiz is over.

I played off bonuses on Sunday and will do so tonight to clear the rest of them. Money being more of a concern now, I'm ignoring most bonuses except Party's because they're incredibly fast and easy to clear in the 50NL.
With practically every hand raked and multitabling, I can get through 700 or 800 raked hands in under three hours. That's a nice added hourly rate, then I can switch back to SnGs.
This NL game is also incredibly soft -- very little raising preflop. And if you're in LP and it's checked to you, a pot-sized bet is often all it takes to take it down.
At each street in the above hand, I paused for effect and then called with deliberateness, if that can be detected online. I did have to think on the river whether I should call or push (monsters under the bed?) but figured I was in this far anyway, and putting him all-in didn't take much more. He called immediately.
After this hand, SB sat out for a few orbits and then left.
For the $40 win, what did SB have?
