My apologies for not yet adding the Leader Board for the grublog last week. Things have been rather hectic, as I've barely made a dent in packing. I hope to get to it later this week.
Congrats to Brad, who was the first to guess that SB held 2-8 in
Hand of the Week #25. Great $40 guess, and he's correct that I made a pansy flop bet. I should've bet higher to make it expensive for a high spade to call. I wanted to see the turn before deciding how to proceed. Definitely not the way to play it. This is NL after all, and I didn't take advantage of it.
Boy howdy do I like NL games. They're my game of choice playing live, but I seldom play them online. Then again, I've put 5/10 and 10/20 on the backburner, preferring to focus on SnGs since they're more reliably profitable for me.
Working off bonuses, however, gives me the opportunity to play NL ring.
Party has to eventually realize the error of this, because they rake as soon as money hits the pot -- and even rake of a few pennies counts as a hand toward your bonus.
People are worse in these games, if that's possible. Not only do they play worse cards, but a big bet often gets them to fold.
Because I'll be away for the next several Mondays, this HoW will be the final one for awhile (it'll return in early January). I added an extra prize to make the wait worthwhile.
Grubby's Hand of the Week #26
for Monday, November 29, 2004
Prize: $20
The first person to correctly guess my opponent's hand before next Thursday (Dec. 9) wins. Suits may or may not matter. One guess per person, please. Winner will be declared here that Thursday. If there's no winner, $5 will be added to the prize pool.
Help continue the HoWs in 2005! Sign up to
Party. If you sign up through
my link, I'll give you a Party baseball cap and $25. This is in addition to the 20 percent bonus on your first deposit (up to $100).
Leave your guess in the comments section below. You can be Anonymous without registering through Blogger, but do include your name so I know whose guess is whose.
If you don't include contact info and you're the winner,
email me after the quiz is over.

I usually sit at the 6max tables, but I figured if I'm working off bonuses, a full table is four extra raked hands of folding.
This was my first hand. I had just sat down at a 50NL and the blind was right to me. Didn't even get to sit and observe, so no reads on anyone.
I'll make no bones about this week's HoW -- it's hella tough. You might guess that I was trying to pick up the limpers preflop with a position raise. That may be correct or it may not. All I'll confess is that when I got two callers, I was not happy because I'd actually have to see a flop and play some poker.
Your task is twofold, but there's an added prize if you get both right.
Be the first to guess
either #1 or #2 correctly, and you'll win the standard $20 prize.
But be the first to get #1
and #2 correct, and you'll win a gaming system (your choice of an Xbox, PlayStation 2, or Nintendo DS)... just in time for Christmas! This was originally going to grublog classic II champ J.L. until he donated it to me, and I thought I'd give you one shot at taking my game system.
1) What did MP3 have?
2) What did grubby have?
